The DAISY Award is a globally recognized program that honors nurses for their extraordinary compassion, dedication, and impact on patients, families, and colleagues. It celebrates nurses who go above and beyond in their care, exemplifying the highest standards of nursing excellence.
At MMCH, we take immense pride in recognizing and celebrating our nurses for the incredible work they do every day to make a difference in the lives of others.
John Uy, our DAISY Award honoree, truly embodies what it means to be an exceptional nurse. He is known for treating everyone equally, fostering teamwork, and always being ready to help. John’s sincerity and kindness create a positive environment for both patients and colleagues. He consistently takes the time to teach staff about new workflows and equipment, while his ability to connect with patients leaves a lasting impression.
One patient shared a heartfelt story about John’s care:
"From the start, when he introduced himself, he made me feel comfortable with his kind and
friendly way. One moment I remember is when he saw I was having trouble adjusting my
position in bed. Without me asking, he helped me quickly, made sure I was comfortable, and
explained how small changes could help my recovery. It was a small thing, but it showed how
much he cared and paid attention. During my stay, John always checked on me, not just to
finish his work but to ask how I was feeling and if I needed anything. He made me feel like I was
his main concern, even though I knew he had other patients to take care of. His kindness and
professionalism really stayed with me. I felt like I was taken care of, and that made a big
difference. Thank you, John, for doing extra."
John’s ability to combine clinical expertise with genuine empathy makes him truly deserving of
this prestigious recognition.
